Conservative Synagogue Adath Israel of Riverdale (CSAIR), a large, vibrant synagogue in the Bronx, NY, is seeking a Communications Specialist to join our team. CSAIR is an active, engaged, and inclusive 400+ household community.
Responsibilities
Reporting directly to CSAIR’s Director of Operations, the Communications Specialist will be responsible for:
developing and executing CSAIR’s communication strategy across all media.
working closely with clergy, our education director, and volunteer leadership to coordinate the promotion of synagogue events, programs, weekly and holiday services, and activities both to our membership as well as to the broader community
designing and drafting email messages, flyers, and other promotional materials
posting events to social media
working in conjunction with our webmaster to keep our website up to date
maintaining our internal planning and website calendars
Learning our database/CRM system (Shulcloud) and using it to create creating interactive forms for synagogue programs and events
The ideal applicant should:
be detail oriented
have strong organizational and written/spoken communication skills
be able to to multi-task
be able to work independently or in collaboration as the task warrants
be comfortable working on deadlines
exhibit facility with the range of social media platforms and programs such as Constant Contact, Google Workspace, Canva, and Microsoft Office. Applicants will be expected to learn the synagogue’s database/CRM, Shulcloud.
Experience
3-5 years communications or related experience. Non-profit/community/faith-based experience is a plus as is knowledge of Jewish customs and practices (or the ability to quickly learn them). Knowledge of Hebrew is also a plus, but is not required.
This is a part-time (approximately 25 hours per week), non-exempt position.
Position can be on-site, fully remote, or hybrid.
Salary: $25-$30 per hour based on experience.
